The National Day of Rest for Black Women on March 10th is a time for rest, healing, and self-care. Here are some ideas to observe and honor this day:
Personal Rest & Self-Care
• Sleep In & Unplug – Take a break from work, social media, and responsibilities.
• Spa Day at Home – Run a bath, do a face mask, light candles, and relax.
• Journaling & Reflection – Write about what rest means to you and how to prioritize it.
• Meditation & Breathwork – Try guided meditation or deep breathing exercises.
• Gentle Movement – Stretch, do restorative yoga, or take a slow nature walk.

Community & Collective Rest
• Rest Circles – Gather with other Black women for a collective rest session, either in person or online.
• Sisterhood Brunch – Share a meal and discuss the importance of rest in your lives.
• Book & Movie Day – Read works by Black women on rest (e.g., Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey) or watch films that bring joy.
• Sound Healing or ASMR – Listen to calming music, affirmations, or ASMR specifically created for Black women.
Advocacy & Awareness
• Social Media Rest Challenge – Encourage others to share how they’re resting using #NationalDayofRest.
• Email Auto-Responder – Set your email to notify others that you’re honoring this day.
• Workplace Advocacy – Advocate for paid rest days or wellness policies at work.
